Seafarmers Pty Ltd are exclusive agents in Australia and New Zealand for the range of chilled pasteurised crabmeat from Phillips Foods Inc. The taste of fresh crab conveniently packaged for retail or food service. Long shelf life, virtually no shell, no waste and year round supply.

Packed in 227gram plastic tubs, 12 to a carton, or 454gram cans, 12 to a carton.

Barramundi

(Lates calcarifer)

 

Barramundi is a native of Australian tropical waters north of latitude 20ºS and is found in rivers, estuaries and inshore waters of northern Australia and south east asia..

The flesh is white, has few bones and does not have a strong taste. Fillets and whole fish are available in a wide range of sizes making it suitable for a variety of cuisines.


Barramundi is farmed without the use of hormones, growth regulators or chemicals.

The fish can be supplied fresh or frozen as -

  • Whole round
  • Gilled, gutted and scaled, head on
  • Gilled, gutted and scaled, head off
  • Fillets - skin on and boneless
  • Fillets - skin off and boneless

Skinless fillet recovery is approximately 45% of whole fish weight.

Whole fish are available in sizes -

·         400-600gm
·         600-1000gm
·         1.0 to 2.0kg
·         2.0 to 3.0kg
·         3.0kg plus

Whole, fresh fish is packed in 18kg polystyrene boxes, 80kg cardboard coffins and 400kg cardboard bulk bins. All fresh product is packed with sufficient coolant to maintain fish temperature at between -1ºC and 4ºC.

Frozen fillets are available in random weight cardboard boxes of aproximately 10kg. Two fillets, each between 600-900gm, are vacuum packed together and maintained at less than -18ºC.

Black Tiger Prawn/Shrimp

(Penaeus monodon)

 

Black Tiger prawns (shrimp), also known as Giant Tiger prawns or Tigers, get their name from the dark lines that encircle the shell. Raw Black Tiger prawns are greenish in colour with hues of blue, yellow and pink on the legs and tail. The shells reveal bright orange-red stripes when cooked.

The Black Tiger prawn is distributed in the oceans from the western Pacific over most of the Indian Ocean and north of Australia towards Japan. Black Tiger prawns are among the finest in the world and have a clean, sweet taste.

Black Tiger prawns are farmed without the use of hormones, growth regulators or chemicals.

Black Tiger prawns are avaialble as -

Aussie Tiger Black Tiger prawns are sold in conventional size ranges, quoted as minimum/maximum number of prawns per pound or kilogram of weight.

Black Mussels

(Mytilus edulis)

Black mussels (sometimes called blue mussels) are farmed on ropes in the clean and sheltered waters off the southern coasts of Australia from New South Wales to Perth in Western Australia. The mussels are harvested at about 12-18 months of age when in prime condition.

Black mussels are farmed without the use of hormones, growth regulators or chemicals.

Black mussels are sold live, packed in 10 or 12kg polystyrene boxes and maintained in the cool chain at between 5º C and 12ºC, from harvest through the distribution chain.

Commercial Scallops

(Pecten alba)

 

Commerical Scallops are harvested in the clear, clean waters of Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.  Scallops are seasonal with fresh product being harvested June through to November.  The most common length of the scallop is 8-9cm but they have been known to grow to over 14cm, growing to a marketable size in 18 months.  

Victorian Scallops have a creamy flesh with orange roe.  They are rich in flavour and can be eaten in many forms - steamed, fried, sauteed or served in their decorative half shell.  This is a popular eating mollusc which commands a high price.

Scallops are known on the lucurative export market, namely Europe, as Coquille Saint Jacques.

Hiramasa Kingfish

(Seriola lalandi)

Hiramasa Kingfish is a pelagic species which, in the wild, lives near the coast and around offshore islands and reefs in the warm, temperate water. Farmed fish grown in sea cages seem to develop a superior fat and oil content that is prized in sashimi markets.

The fish exhibits a bluish-green back with a yellowish tail and stripe through the midline. The flesh is firm and reddish-brown and cooks to a creamy-white and is excellent eating as either sashimi or cooked in a variety of styles.

Hiramasa Kingfish is most commonly supplied fresh, in 16kg polystyrene boxes as -

Yarra Valley Atlantic Salmon

(Salmo salar)

Yarra Valley Salmon specialises in producing farmed plate sized salmon grown using  the pristine waters of the Rubicon River in the Victorian high country.

Experts claim this salmon is the closest in appearance and flavour to a wild Atlantic salmon. This is probably due to the cleanliness of the grow out water and the fact that the fish are constantly swimming against the flow of the river.

Yarra Valley Salmon is supplied fresh, in 20kg polystyrene boxes as -

  • Gilled and gutted
  • Smoked

Salmon Caviar

Yarra Valley Salmon Caviar is Australia's highest quality roe. The farmed fish are gently milked before being released back into the water.The roe consists of large, glossy orbs which offer intense explosions of flavour when eaten.

Rainbow Trout

Seafarmers sources rainbow trout from the Buxton Trout Farm. The farm is situated in the Victorian high country with access to the clean waters of the Rubicon River, which helps to give the fish a very clean flavour.

Locally grown Mountain Ash timber is used for smoking the fish. This provides a unique product, sought after for its delicate flavour.

Rainbow Trout are supplied fresh as -

  • Gilled and gutted in 20kg polystyrene boxes
  • Smoked in 10kg polystyrene boxes

Redclaw Crayfish

(Cherax quadricarinatus)

Redclaw are freshwater crayfish with a similar appearance to small lobster. They are found in rivers, creeks, billabongs, lakes and dams in northern Queensland. They thrive in the warmer, tropical regions of Queensland and can reach a maximum size of about 300 grams, although they are commercially available from 30gm to 120gm.

Redclaw are similar to crayfish and turn orange when cooked. The flesh is virtually fat free and has a clean, sweet and delicate flavour.

Farmed Redclaw are produced without the use of chemicals and growth regulators.

Redclaw are supplied as -

  • Whole chilled in 10kg polystyrene boxes
  • Whole green (raw) frozen in 10kg
  • Live in 10kg polystyrene boxes

Live redclaw are shipped at temperatures between 12ºC and 15ºC and will survive 2 or 3 days. They are delicate and some losses can be expected.

Spanner Crabs

(Ranina ranina)

 

The Spanner Crab or the Red Frog Crab is mainly found off the coastline of South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.  This beautiful crab derives its name from the spanner shaped claws.  It is highly prized in various areas of South East Asia and yields brilliant white succulent sweet meat.  The shell, when cooked, is bright orange.  This crab is available all year round except for the month of December when the fishery is closed due to spawning season.

Spanner crabs can be supplied as -

Mendolia’s Sardines

(Sardinops sp)

 

Seafarmers distributes Mendolia’s Sardines, the first supplier of processed sardines in Australia.The fish are caught in the in-shore waters off the coast of West Australia, chilled immediately, filleted and quickly processed or airfreighted to customers. This makes the sardines the freshest available.

Mendolia’s Sardines have a long reputation for supplying the best fresh, frozen and processed sardines. Secret family recipes brought to Australia from Sicily are used in the processing to this day.

Sardines are supplied fresh or frozen, packed in 10kg (2x5kg) polystyrene boxes as -

Vongole

(Anadara & Katelysia sp)


Pronounced ‘Vong-goh-lay’ (which is the Italian name for this species of small clam), this mollusc is being sought after by fine dining restaurants wishing to offer something a little different. Prized for their unique shellfish flavour, Vongole are magnificent cooked using the many recipes for this prince among shellfish.

Seafarmers Vongole are hand raked using the traditional method when water is still over the sand, so only the best each tide has to offer are harvested. Vongole have a shelf life that allows live transport to markets by road or air.

Vongole are supplied in mixed sizes, whole, live in 18kg polystyrene boxes

Ocean Trout

(Oncorhynchus mykiss)


Petuna brand Ocean trout is undoubtedly one of the best species of farmed salmonid in the world. Rather than grow the fish as fast as possible, Petuna has found that a greatly increased flesh quality is achieved by allowing the fish to grow at a more natural pace.

The farms are situated in some of the most pristine waters in Tasmania, away from human habitation and other farming operations. The care and attention taken in growing the ocean trout make the Petuna brand the leader in quality.
